“It is good to give thanks to the Lord and to sing praises to Your name, O Most High.” -Psalm 92:1
A vital part of a healthy, vibrant and victorious Christian life is the giving of thanks to God. Much like good tasting food that’s good for you, so is thanksgiving – it’s good! Thus a grateful believer is a happy and healthy believer. The more you give God thanks, the spiritually healthier you’ll be! It should be, therefore, a daily and ongoing exercise for the believer, and not just limited to one day of the year. Because “It is good…” is one of the countless reasons for being thankful.
On a personal note, I’d like to take this opportunity to give thanks for a few things. I’ll begin with God’s faithfulness for the past 25 years. Yes, in case you forgot, we celebrated our Silver Anniversary in September! I’d also like to add:
- A new beginning at P.S. 57 and for the administration here that made this possible. It seems like each location God has brought us to have been like a fresh start providing us opportunities to learn. In this case, we moved just around the corner but, nonetheless, a fresh start.
- A new and permanent church home, wherever that may be. Giving God thanks for what He has yet to do is a good practice, too!
- For my loving MGT church family and their many prayers on my and my family’s behalf.
- For the all the ministries and their faithful workers.
I could go on and on, but there’s not enough space here, and it’s not just about me, anyhow. We ALL have so much to be thankful for, don’t we? I’d like to encourage you to make thanksgiving an ongoing spiritual exercise each and every day. Ask God, especially, for grace to thank Him for the difficulties and challenges which life often brings. Crazy as it sounds, we’re to thank God “for all things.” Remember: “For from Him, and through Him and to Him are all things. To Him be the glory forever. Amen.”
Have a Happy Thanksgiving life!
